Camping in T42

When I was wrapping up building The Lucky Penny blogging about building The Lucky Penny fell to the wayside. The same pattern seems to have happened with our new tiny house, T42. We are still building and it's coming along nicely, but my attention has been on finishing the tiny house, rather than writing about it. I've been trying to maximize daylight hours for building and it's getting light earlier and staying light later (hallelujah!) Hopefully as we snuggle into our little house I'll have more bandwidth for blogging about building adventures like electricity, built-ins, trimming out, etc.

Meanwhile, I wanted to share an exciting update: we've begun camping in the tiny house in our backyard! Some new community mates moved into the common house on Sunday so Saturday we cleaned the tiny house, installed the last bit of trim on the bed platform and with the help of one of our new community mates got our mattress moved into T42. Then we made up the bed with sheets and pillows and our comfy comforter and made our little nest! We're using the common house for cooking, bathing, dressing, and pretty much everything else, but it sure is nice sleeping in the little house now! (And, of course, even after we start spending more time in T42 we'll still be living in the common house, too. We'll be able to use the common spaces, including a big kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, laundry room, and the Req Room.

Here's the bed at night, all cozy by flashlight illumination!

Last night was our third night sleeping in our wee abode.* It's lovely waking up in the treetops and I can't wait to settle into the house more! If you'd like to come help us finish up the little house, get in touch

*Well, that is if you don't count the first night we slept in T42 when we first brought it here at New Year's and Isha set up the air mattress and we snuggled into our sleeping bags with our down coats and hats watched the snow fall on the roof window!
